Drawing on more than 40 years of skin science, pioneering innovations such as plant-based liposomes, over 100 publications and more than 20 patents, Capture Totale is reinventing itself as Dior Capture.

An expert in mother cell research applied to cosmetics, Dior Capture will expand its field of inspiration in 2025 to include regenerative medicine, the techniques of which highlight the role of oxygen transport in improving skin quality and reconstruction.

In-depth research carried out in collaboration with Dior Science’s long-standing partner, CiRA, and approved by two prestigious members of the Dior Reverse Aging Board, has led to the creation of a new technology, OX-C [Oxygeno-Collagen] Treatment.

This high-performance age-defying concentrate, enriched with three patented1 complexes, represents the next generation of Dior Capture serum and cream.

Pure elegance and performance from Dior.

CELLULAR RESPIRATION IN THE SKIN, A FUNDAMENTAL FACTOR
OF YOUTHFUL SKIN THAT IS DISRUPTED FROM AGE 20

Oxygen is essential to the skin’s metabolism. It plays a major role in the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy cells use to regenerate and synthesize proteins, including collagen, a major component of skin tissue. It takes over 12,600 ATP molecules to produce a single collagen fiber1.

Recent work by Dior researchers shows that cellular respiration, whether in the epidermis or the dermis, is compromised with age, starting at the age of 20, directly impacting skin regeneration and youthfulness.

1. DECREASED CELLULAR RESPIRATION
REDUCES SKIN REGENERATION

In collaboration with Professor Knut Woltjen, associate at CiRA (Center for iPS Cell Research and Application) in Kyoto and member of the Dior Reverse Aging Board, Dior researchers continued the research on mother cells they began over 20 years ago.

They were able to demonstrate the following on mother cells (in vitro tests):
- Due to mitochondrial mutations, cellular respiration decreases by 40% between the ages of 25 and 90.
- This loss of respiratory capacity reduces ATP production by 47% and epidermal regeneration by 45%.

“By analyzing iPS cell lines from healthy male and female donors ranging from 20 to 80 years old, we have discovered that reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by mitochondria induce more and more mutations of the mitochondrial DNA, causing a decrease in cellular respiration and therefore a decrease of cell energy, slowing down as a consequence skin cell regeneration.”

Prof. Knut Woltjen, CiRA Associate Professor.

2. REDUCED CELLULAR RESPIRATION IMPACTS
THE VITALITY AND YOUTHFULNESS OF SKIN TISSUE

The cells that synthesize native collagen—fibroblasts—are impacted on two levels:

First, Dior researchers have demonstrated that their respiration decreases by 37% and their energy by 28% between the ages of 20 and 40 (in vitro tests).

Second, in collaboration with the CNRS, they have shown that a lack of oxygen promotes the accumulation of senescent cells, accelerating tissue aging.

“The body uses NK (Natural Killer) cells to eliminate aging fibroblasts and make room for higher-quality fibroblasts. When these cells receive an inadequate oxygen supply, they lose productivity, and aging fibroblasts accumulate in the tissues.”

Dr Virginie Couturaud,
Dior’s Director of Scientific Communications.

SUPPLYING OXYGEN
TO SKIN

A PROTOCOL INSPIRED BY REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

More than ever, Dior Science shows that oxygen and youthful skin are closely linked.

However, we know that a poorly controlled or excessive oxygen supply is actually harmful to the skin. The excessive formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to oxidative stress that can damage cells.

Our researchers have therefore investigated a new field of inspiration: regenerative medicine, which uses oxygen transport to maximize oxygen’s impact within the skin, without oxidative effects.

“I became interested in the possibility of using an oxygen-carrying molecule. By artificially recreating tissue oxygenation, oxygen transport contributed to better tissue regeneration.”

[OX-C TREATMENT]

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVATES OXYGEN DELIVERY,
VISIBLY REJUVENATES SKIN LACKING COLLAGEN1

1 In vitro test on ingredient.
Dior has created [OX-C TREATMENT] technology based on a biopolymer of plant origin.
Able to optimize oxygen transport, it induces a virtuous cascade in the skin to accelerate its regeneration capacities and maximize youthfulness.

Supporting evidence (in vitro tests on ingredients):

- Cellular respiration is increased by 57%
- Epidermal regeneration is accelerated by 22%
- Dermal regeneration is boosted by 42%

Type I collagen production is tripled.

In addition, the laboratory of Dr. David Furman, Associate Professor at the Buck Institute and member of the Dior Reverse Aging Board, has shown that the [OX-C TREATMENT] stimulates NK cell productivity by 84% (in vitro tests on ingredients). This facilitates the elimination of senescent and dysfunctional cells and promotes activity in younger cells.

TO COMPLEMENT ITS EFFECTS:

REVITALIZING LILY EXTRACT
& A POWERFUL PRO-COLLAGEN
DIPEPTIDE

REVITALIZING LILY EXTRACT

Dior Science has selected a new lily extract with proven activity on mother cells (in vitro tests on ingredients):

- 33% increase in Ki67 activity, a marker of epidermal proliferation, to boost epidermal regeneration.
- 26% increase in integrin α6 and 26% increase in integrin β4, to boost cell anchoring.
